Mark received his Ph.D. in political science at The University of Georgia.  He teaches graduate and undergraduate courses about American politics and democratic representation at The University of Texas at Tyler. He also manages the Center for Opinion Research.

Mark's research on public opinion in Texas has been cited by FiveThirtyEight, The New York TimesAustin American-StatesmanDallas Morning NewsTexas Tribune and more. 

His academic research on legislative rules in the Senate has been published in American Politics Research, Legislative Studies Quarterly, Congress & the Presidency, and PS: Political Science and Politics.  In 2015 and 2016, Mark worked as an APSA Congressional fellow on the staff of Senator Orrin Hatch, the President Pro-Tempore of the U.S. Senate.
